Opposition Supporters Under Threat of Arrest in Telavi

June 11, 2008

Gogita Dalakishvili one of the members of the United Opposition and who was an active member of Pikria Chikhradze’s headquarter during parliament elections is now under threat of being arrested.

As Gogita Dalakishvili said to radio Hereti he was warned on second of June that   Kakheti regional department of MIA was going to arrest him.

“Because of his security, I cannot name the person who came to me on the second of June and warned that I had to stop my activities. He meant that I had to give up being involved with the United Opposition. And if not, drugs would be found in my car or when I was body searched. This would be the justification for my arrest”-states Gogita Dalakishvili.

Gogita Dalakishvili worked in special operation centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the MIA fired him from his job because he was thought to have been under the influence on heroin in early December of last year.

As Dalakishvili states to radio Hereti during the conversation, “He had testified over the above-mentioned blackmail last autumn, when he was forced to write down that he was active user of drugs; and only after this he was officially terminated from his position.”
