Street Traders Opposed in Lagodekhi & Other Georgian Regions Too

The administration of Lagodekhi District Municipality has forbidden street traders from trading in the streets. The police forced street traders to leave their places of business the streets.

“Street trading is our only income. If we don’t trade and support our families we will have to turn to protest” said the street traders to Radio Hereti.

Gia Gozalishvili, Governor of Lagodekhi Municipality personally demanded that street traders stop trading.  He told Radio Hereti that it is unacceptable to trade in streets. He said that with street trading traffic rules are being violated. Gozalishvili states that the local government will take care of finding alternative places for the traders.

The street traders told Radio Hereti that in case the problems are not resolved in timely basis, they will than hold mass demonstrations.
