On August 12 several people from the villages of Disevi and Koshkebi (upper villages in Tkviavi Community) arrived in Mtskheta district. These people hid in the corn fields during hostilities and hoped everything would end soon and would get back homes soon.
The reason of their arrival in Mtskheta districts were Russian troops and local band formations that entered in their village that opened fire at abandoned houses in the villages. Finally the offenders burnt the houses. The IDPs witnessed how their houses were burnt down and then they had no way but leave the native places.
Witnesses say that population of the villages Karbi, Mereti, Disevi, Ksuisi, Kitsnisi and others in Shida Kartli are abandoned. Everybody has left the places. Armed formations are deployed there and they burn and rob empty houses.
Similar is the situation in the villages of Beloti, Vanati and Satskheneti in Gori district. On August 11 a young woman applied to the Public Defender’s Office and requested assistance for the people who still remain in the village of Vanati. She reported that Russian troops and band formations entered the village. Villagers stated that band formations shot sixty-five-year-old Vladimer J in front of his house; some other people are also wounded. The harassers are burning houses in Vanati, Beloti and Satsheneti.
