Charity Group Assists 318 IDPs from Shida Kartli

On August 13-18 a charity group of journalists from Kakheti and representatives of the Kakheti region based non-governmental organizations was established to assist IDPs fleeing from Shida Kartli. To date assistance has been provided to 318 internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The IDPs residing in compact residential areas and private houses have received food, clothing and other much needed items. Besides, on August 19 nearly 1,200 IDPs residing in Gurjaani district was very mush satisfied with a supply of clothes and other linen.

The HQ of the charity group of journalists and NGOs work out of the office of the local TV Company, which is located in “Gurjaani”- they have provided a hotline 8(253) 2 50 70 where IDPs can call and provide information about the possible location of their missing relatives and seek help. The IDPs will also receive free legal assistance from the lawyers of the Human Rights Center, and they will able to address members of the charity group about their various issues and problems.

The charity group implements its activities with the support of the local population of Gurjaani district.

Members of the charity group provide medical service for the IDPs and the vulnerable people are being supplied with free medicines.

The charity group is ready to assist various organizations with personnel to provide improved assistance for IDPs.

In the nearest future the charity group will receive the humanitarian aid from abroad that has been provide by friends of Georgia.
