Bacteria Discovered in Gori Drinking Water after the Invasion of Russian Troops

September 3, 2008

After Russians had left Gori, the Georgian side decided to check water safety in Gori. It turned out that the water safety was below normal level. It is not recommended to give fresh water to children. The water must be boiled.

Paata Imnadze, the head of National Center for Disease Control told Medianews that the sample of drinking water from Gori taken when the conflict was over showed that there is a small portion of bacteria in it. However, they are not dangerous for health. Despite this it is advisable to drink boiled and then cooled water especially for children.
