Kavkasia Accusing GNCC of Spreading False Information

September 5, 2008

The Administration of TV-Company Kavkasia is accusing Georgian National Communication’s Commission (GNCC) of spreading false information regarding mysterious disappearance of Kavkasia from live air two days ago. The company administration “advises” all governmental structures to forget the whereabouts of kavkasia transmitter.

Nino Jangirashvili, director of Kavkasia told Medianews that the company administration does not know when and how GNCC group explored Kavkasia transmitter because the company administration itself had studied the transmitter damages and ascertained 9 minor blocks out of 12 were burnt. This was before the GNCC group allegedly inspected the transmitter. The damage reasons are unknown.

Nino Jangirashvili states that it was difficult even for experts to explain why transmitters came out of order as all block details had been burnt, melted or blown up.  “Even the highest power could not have caused this”. “We would like to inform the GNCC that we rehabilitated transmitter using reserve block on the second day without their assistance. We promise it will work for a long time,” stated the head of Kavkasia. She also added that they will continue investigating what happened on the transmitter in evening of September 1st.

She also said that TV-Company Kavkasia’s transmitter was made in 2000. It was repaired systematically. The transmitter corresponds with international standards with subsequent certificate. 7 years of utilization would not have brought it out order.

It is indicated in the GNCC’s statement that 8 small blocks out of 12 is burnt. They will be studied and asserted if they can be rehabilitated.

Nino Jangirashvili, director of Kavkasia suspects that the statement of GNCC is an attempt to create a alibi for the government in case the TV-Company is shut down in the future.
