New Forces Deployed to Russian Block Post in the Village of Perevi, Sachkhere District

September 18, 2008

New armed forces were rotated to a Russian block post in the village of Perevi, Sachkhere District. About 100 Russian soldiers in cars were moving in the district during throughout the whole night.

Zurab Tsertsvadze, Sachkhere District Governor told news agency Medianews that the Russian troops are not intending to leave Perevi block post as yet. His allegation is based on the fact that new forces were rotated to the block post yesterday and they made additional repairs to other block posts.

“People panicked when they saw so many soldiers. They have not seen so many infantry forces even when Russians first entered the village of Perevi. As for looting, the villagers have not made any complaints in this regard. The Russians buy food and drinks with their own money. However, they live in fear and stress because no one knows what the Russians will do in the future. The launch of school year in Perevi Public School was postponed to Monday as we were unable to bring school related inventory to school because of Russians presence in the village,” said Zurab Tsertsvadze to Medianews.
