Four from Same Family Died in Landslide

September 19, 2008

Heavy rains brought about a landslide in the village of Losauri in Khelvachauri district, Adjara Autonomous Republic. As a result four members of the Chavleishvilis’ family died in the landslide. Only the head of the family, grandfather survived during the natural disaster and one daughter of the Chavleishvilis is now in hospital and suffers from serious trauma. All other members of the family died under the force and destruction of the landslide.

The situation is also difficult in other villages of the district, like Korolistavi, Makhvilauri and Sameba. However, nobody died during the natural disaster. The landslide blocked roads in those specific villages.

As for Batumi, because of heavy rain the streets of Batumi are flooded and cars are unable to move around the city.
