Those living in Arashenda Village Threaten to Burn Killer’s House to the Ground

September 29, 2008

Inhabitants of Arashenda village informed the Human Rights Center that if the Kakheti Regional Police Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs does not investigate the murder of Aleksandre Kvezereli in an impartial way they will take the law into their own hands and burn the killer’s house to the ground.

Aleksandre Kvezereli, former Arashenda village Governor was shot to death by Otar Boghlocishvili, former head of Kakheti Regional Police Division’s 6th Dept.  in August, 2008.

Associates of late Kvezereli state that Kvezereli and Boghlocishvili had a tense argument over ownership rights of various agricultural plots in the village of Qodalo. They say Boghlocishvili was trying to steal the properties. They claim that the investigation is being carried out in a biased way and Boghlocishvili might be charged only for killing the man in self-defense instead of premeditated murder.
