Widow of Patarkatsishvili Starts New Fight for TV Imedi and Mtatsminda Park

October 28, 2008
Ina Gudavadze, widow of Badri Patarkatsishvili, is starting a new round in the fight to get back the legal control of TV Imedi and Mtatsminda Park.

Today, Ina Gudavadze stated at the press-conference that TV Company Imedi and Mtatsminda Park belong to the heirs of Patarkatsishvili and she will do her best to return the inheritance through all possible legal methods.

“Follow the death of Badri I had to fight for his property to keep for his heirs. The most important parts of the property were TV Imedi and Mtatsminda Park. They were personal projects of Badri and he created them for to benefit Georgia and the Georgian people. I, his widow, have responsibility to do my utmost to continue his good deeds. It is my obligation towards Badri and the Georgian people. Badri established Imedi TV in order to enable Georgian people to hear an independence of opinion. When he was offered huge amounts of money in exchange of the TV Company he preferred to keep the company,” said Ina Gudavadze.

The widow of Patarkatsishvili stated that when she gets the TV Company back, she will take all measures to provide a service to the Georgian and present them with impartial and balanced information. Ina Gudavadze pointed out that fight for TV Company does not have political character. “I believe that independent media sources have served very important function for the society and this is especially valuable.  I am not a politician and my aim to return the company is not whatsoever with a political aim in mind. TV Imedi will be a guarantee for the provision of impartial and balanced information to greater society. I assume the responsibility to invite a team of professional journalists in the company who will exactly perform their mission,” said Gudavadze.

As for the part on Mtatsminda, widow of Patarkatsishvili stated that it should have been a park of universal value. “We opened the park shortly before it was seized from us. We worked very hard on its construction. The most terrible fact was that the park has not been operating for such a long time. But the worst will be if we will be prevented from its reconstruction. I know that it will not be easy to get TV Imedi and the park back but my family and I will definitely win. We have already appealed to the court against the falsification and fraud related to the power of attorney that they have used to get access to the TV Company. We will continue our legal fight against the illegal confiscation of our property. The evidence and related facts are in support of us.  We are certain the justice will prevail,” said Ina Gudavadze.
