President’s Adviser Familiarized Giorgi State Concept on National Minorities

Tbilisi. Nov. 6, Media News Giorgi Arsenishvili, chairperson of Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee within the Parliament of Georgia met with Tamar Kintsurashvili, President’s Advisor on the Integration of Minorities.

The meeting was organized at the initiative of Tamar Kintsurashvili. The main topic for their conversation was the state concept on national minorities. The concept was created by a special board functioning within the president’s apparatus.

Tamar Kintsurashvili provided Giorgi Arsenishvili with basic information about the presented concept. She highlighted the importance of involving the Parliament of Georgia in terms of legislation and the process of discussing the concept. Giorgi Arsenishvili said he was ready to study the concept in detail. The two sides agreed to cooperate in the future and seek ways to improve the overall concept. Giorgi Arsenishvili stated that the legislative and executive government of Georgia must regularly cooperate when it comes to the important issue of minority affairs.

Tamar Kintsurashvili stated that the representatives of CoE Minority Frame- Convention Committee of Advisers will arrive to Georgia in December. They monitor how Georgia meets the undertaken obligations on ethnic minorities. 

The events to be held on November 16- the International Day for Tolerance were discussed on the meeting as well. Giorgi Arsenishvili said that a reception for various ethnic minorities will be held in the parliament of Georgia on that day.
