75-Year-Old Woman Killed with Severe Beating

Friends and associates of Ira Mebonia, 75 found her crippled body in the forest today. Ira Mebonia had been illegally abducted from the Nabakevi Village, Gali District, several days ago; she was tortured and her face had many scars.

Abductors demanded 30,000 USD from Ira Mebonia’s family to secure her release.  The family was unable to pay the money and the abductors tortured the 75-year-old woman to death.

Ira Mebonia’s relative told Media News that the allegation that abductors demanded 30,000 USD was a lie. “There are many assumptions on why Ira Mebonia was abducted. Mebonia’s associates were looking for her in the forest and found her crippled body. No one knows why she was tortured so ruthlessly. The abductors did not demand any ransom. We assume that she identified one of the abductors and was why she was murder,” told Mebonia’s relative to Media News.
