Teachers Request Punishment of School Director Because of Appropriated School Funds

January 21, 2009

Part of teachers of Gurjaani village public school blames general inspection of the Ministry of Education for protecting the director of the school. The teachers claim that Marine Utiashvili, the director, has appropriated sums from school budget several times and the General Inspection and Financial Police did not react on her illegal activities.

Temur Gorkhelasvhili, manager of Gurjaani public school, stated that the director opened a star for one of the teachers at school. The workers, previously hired for some repair-works at school, prepared star but did not take reimbursement for the implemented work; however, the director allocated sums for the work from the school budget and appropriated it. Gorkhelashvili blames the director for some other illegal activities too. He said that several days before, Marine Utiashvili threatened him with dismissal unless he stopped appealing against her.

Personnel of the public school reported Kakheti department of the investigation department of the Service for Revenues and General Inspection of the Ministry of Education about the incident but there was no reaction.

Marine Utiashvili claims the accusations against her are groundless.
