Pensioners from Batumi VS Komagi

January 28, 2009

The retired people from Batumi express their discontent against charity non governmental organization „Komagi“. They protest unrealized promises of the organization. They accuse the „Komagi“ adminsitration for swindlery.

The elderly people claim that they joined „Komagi“, Union of Labor, Veterans and Unemployeed People several months ago. They pay 5 GEL for membership per month. The adminsitration promised them to provide with clothes and provisions. However, the promise was not kept.

Taliko Meladze, the head of Batumi office of “Komagi” states that the organization is negotiating with businesspersons and partner organizations in Brussels to receive aid from them: “We will start distributing aid gradually. We have already given oil, clothes and shoes to some of pensioners.”

The charity union “Komagi” was established in October of 2008. Until now over 1000 retired people had joined the union. However, hundreds of disappointed pensioners have already quitted the union.
