Kakheti Regional Governor Ordered To Video-Record Property of Businessmen

February 12, 2009

Reportedly, Giorgi Ghviniahsivli, Kakheti regional governor, ordered to video-record the properties of the enterprises in the region. Several entrepreneurs reported the Human Rights Center about the fact.

Businessmen claim that nobody requested their permission for shooting their properties. However, none of them refused the governor to execute his order. Entrepreneurs suppose that governmental officials will demand shares from their business.

The Center tried to get explanations of the video-recording from the Regional Governor for several days. However, Giorgi Ghviniahsvili does not reply our phone calls and he did not agree to meet us in his office. Giorgi Sibashvili, deputy governor, stated that local authority work on business-catalogue of local enterprises and they wanted to shoot the properties.
