“Don’t Get Afraid” – Population of Sighnaghi District Express Their Protest against Single Mandate Candidate

March 8, 2009

“Don’t get afraid”, these slogans were written on the fences of the houses in the villages of Sighnaghi district.

Residents of the village of Magharo stated the slogan is an expression of their protest against Nugzar Abulashvili, single mandate candidate who controls everything in the district and tries to subdue people through threatening them. Locals reported that the slogan is one of the sources of protest against his activities.

Nodar Kochlamazashvili, Sighnaghi district governor, stated he learned about the fact from the journalists. “I visited the district today and I did not notice anything,” said the governor.

MP Abulashvili does not make comments about the fact.
