April 1, 2009

Drinking water does not comply with estimated standards in any of the villages of the Lagodekhi district. As a result of implemented researches the specialists concluded that the coli index is very high in the drinking water and this might cause intestine infections.

According to official data, throughout 2008 drinking water was tested 143 times on bacteria and an unsatisfactory result was received 139 times. 302 samples were tested on sanitary and chemic indicators in the district. Negative results were obtained 406 times.

Nunu Nozadze, head of Public Healthcare in Lagodekhi district, stated that drinking water both in the town and in each village of the district does not comply with the standards; they have discovered some other violations too. At this moment intestine infections are not spread but unless the problem is resolved immediately, the infection will break out,” said Nunu Nozadze.
