Representatives of the “Mothers for Homeland” Held Demonstration near the Building of Special Operative Department

April 9, 2009

Public union “Mothers for Homeland” organized demonstration near the building of Special Operative Department. The demonstrators called upon the administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs not to give illegal directions to policemen and protect peaceful demosntrators.

Ana Guramishvili, descendent of great Georgian writer, Davit Guramishvili, who is member of the union, requested the law enforcers to remember their mothers, sisters, wives and not to use force against the peaceful demonstrators.

“We request these people to implement their duties and protect us from violence; to support us and our children. We call upon every law enforcer to remember that the society gathered in Rustaveli Avenue is their part and they should protect them,” said actress Nata Murvanidze.

On April 9, opposition parties are organizing protest demonstration in front of the parliament, state university, public broadcasting, president’s regimentation and military base on Shavnabada Mountain where they will demand resignation of Saakashvili.
