Bezhan Gunava Stated that Law Enforcers from SOD and CSD Physically Assaulted Demonstrators

April 10, 2009

Bezhan Gunava, an opposition leader, stated that law enforcement officers from the Special Operative Department and the Constitutional Security Department physically assaulted demonstrators.

Bezhan Gunava stated at the meeting organized in front of the parliament building that one of the demonstrator was physically assaulted by law enforcement officers from the CSD and SOD in the “April 9 Square”. Another demonstrator was taken away by car in an unidentified direction.

“This demonstration is not only passive . If somebody among us is beaten we will not watch it calmly. So, we call upon the SOD and CSD to leave the April 9 Square. Otherwise we will go there ourselves and clean the square and the city of these people,” said Bezhan Gunava.

According to him, the law enforcement officers are deployed near underground stations.
