Police Arrested Author of the Threatening Letter to Levan Kubaneishvili

Police arrested Nikoloz Chikhradze who, according to the investigation, on April 26 sent e-mail to Levan Kubaneishvili, director-general of the Public Broadcasting and threatened him and his family members.

The Human Rights Center got in touch with the press-center of the opposition parties regarding the situation. Vako Avaliani, spokesperson for the Alliance for Georgia stated that Nikoloz Chikhradze had never cooperated with opposition parties.

Levan Kubaneishvili avoids making comments on the situation.

Press service of the Ministry of Interior refused to make comments regarding the fact. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior does not think it is right to comment on the fact before the investigation finishes.

The criminal case was launched on preventing the professional activities of the journalist. Criminal Police Department is investigating the incident.

Nikoloz Chikhradze stated in video-recording that as spread by the Ministry of Interior, he is dissatisfied with the work of the Public Broadcasting and it became the reason for his threatening Levan Kubaneishvili.
