Journalist Sulkhan Meskhidze to Sue Police Officers

June 15 issue of the newspaper Versia reports that Media holding Adjara P.S. mistrusts investigation.

According to the newspaper, journalist Sulkhan Meskhidze, intends to continue litigation against Kobuleti district police at the court.

The case is about April 6 incident against journalist Sulkhan Meskhidze from the Media holding Adjara P.S, when he was verbally and physically abused by police officers; they illegally interfered into his professional activities.

Meskhidze appealed to the Prosecutor’s Office. Later the journalist received a response from the police colonel notifying of the investigation carried out having proved no disciplinary violation by the police department as a result.

Media holding, the newspaper reports, released some footage featuring violence used against the reporter by Kobuleti police chief. In response to the investigation an official statement was made pointing out that no investigation was conducted, no one was interrogated except for Meskhidze having been questioned about everything but case-related details.
