Appeal Court Declined Zakaria Kinkladze’s Lawsuit

July 3, 2012

Tbilisi Appeal Court did not accept the lawsuit of Zakaria Kinkladze, head of Akhmeta office of the Coalition Georgian Dream. Zakaria Kinkladze requested annulment of the Telavi District Court’s judgment and his immediate release.

“The appeal was delivered to Judge Merab Lomidze at the Appeal Court on June 29. He passed resolution on declining the lawsuit within 24 hours. It is general practice. The resolution will be handed to Zakro tomorrow at the detention setting. We cannot appeal this decision of the court. Zakro will have to serve 25-day imprisonment,” Zakaria Kinkladze’s lawyer Aleksi Tusniashvili told ICK.

On June 24, Akhetma district officers arrested Zakaria Kinkladze for minor hooliganism. Employee of Akhmeta district administration and member of the United National Movement Paata Sukhishvili had sued him at the police. Judge Labaza Duishvili at the Telavi District Court sentenced Kinkladze to 25-day administrative imprisonment. The judge carried out trial without lawyer, journalists and other interested people.

On June 26, criminal case was launched against Kinkladze’s wife Maia Tsulukidze. She is accused of swindle.

ICK carried out journalistic investigation on Zakaria Kinkladze’s case. The investigation findings proved Kinkladze’s innocence.
