Residents of 26 villages will receive 200 lari aid for firewood in Gori district. Those villages border with occupied territory. Locals cannot fetch firewood for winter because forest is now located on the other side of the fence.

Temporary Governmental Commission concluded that the population shall spend the allocated allowance for the firewood. Head of Agriculture Development Unit of the Gori district administration Giorgi Khidasheli said they had petitioned to the temporary commission to increase the 200 lari allowance with 100 lari but the request was not satisfied.

The village attorneys already hold verified lists of the families, who stay in the villages in winter. Attorney of Ditsi territorial entity Zakaria Batitadze said, 960 families from Ditsi, Arbo and Korda will receive 200-lari aid. “This money will really assist locals to purchase firewood but it is not enough. In the second half of the winter people will sell their harvest and will be able to purchase firewood with their own money.”

ABL population from Gori district said the allocated money is not enough to purchase firewood for entire winter. “We are grateful for this aid but it is not enough,” Lali Gudishvili said.

About 2 000 000 lari was allocated from the budget for about 9 500 families.
