Human Rights Defender Blame Head of Adjara MIA Department in Wrong HR and Financial Policy

January 17, 2014

Keti Labadze, Adjara

Human rights defender Tamaz Bakuridze blamed Valeri Telia, head of Adjara Main Department of MIA in wrong HR and financial policy. “In fact, he ignores local human resources, who work for the police. He promotes only invited personnel. For example, head of Kobuleti district police, head of Gonio district police, etc. Invited personnel never occupied senior positions in the districts during previous governments. Very many qualified people work in local police units, who have served the region during years but they are not promoted. In addition to that,  different conditions are created for invited personnel; they have more free working hours; they often have business leaves and enjoy some privileges. Their accommodation is also quite expensive.”

Tamaz Bakuridze calls on nongovernmental organizations to study the case. “NGOs shall be interested in this case; this fact astonishes not only police officers but entire local population. People protest that local human resources are ignored. People, having worked for the police during years, have no chance of promotion. Whilst, active participants of the criminal regime still occupy high positions.”
