More Than 112 Million Lari to Spend on Infrastructure Projects in Kakheti in 2014

On January 20, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Davit Narmania held meetings with Kakheti regional governor Irakli Shiolashvili, district governors and chairman of municipal boards. He spoke with about infrastructural projects, which the Ministry intends to implement in 2014 in Kakheti. He spoke about rehabilitation of motorways, water-supply systems; about the issues related with the management of hard plural remains and other infrastructural projects.

Narmania said the most significant direction of 2014 will be construction-rehabilitation of motorways. The Ministry, together with the Transportation Department, intends to spend over 26 million lari in the region. They will continue rehabilitation of Ulianovka-Bodbe-Gamarjveba, Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi, Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe motorways and other roads. 

In 2014, the Ministry will pay particular attention to the solution of water-supply problems and 19 million lari was allocated for the purpose. This year, water-supply systems will be constructed-rehabilitated in Telavi, Gurjaani, Signagi, Akhmeta, Lagodekhi, Kvareli, Sagarejo, Telavi-Kurdgelauri and Tsnori districts. The activities will be implemented by the Municipal Development Foundation and the United Water Supply Company will administrate the project.

In 2014, bank-restorative constructions of Kaparchai River will be conducted at the estuaries of the Alazani River in Dedoplistskaro district. Bank-restorative constructions will be carried on Mgvrie Khevi River in Kardenakhi village, Gurjaani district, on Chvartliskhevi River in Gurgeniani village, Lagodekhi district. Restorative activities will take place in Tsnori-Bodbiskhevi sector too in Signagi district.

This year, Company for the Management of Hard Plural Remains intends to arrange garbage dumps in Sagarejo and Telavi districts. Dumps in Gurjaani, Kvareli, Signagi, Lagodekhi and Dedoplistskaro will be exploited; the polygons of the garbage dumps will be fenced.

Regional Development State Commission has already approved 85 projects, which will be implemented in Kakheti region in 2014. The Foundation funded rehabilitation of roads and bridges (43 projects), rehabilitation of the Culture House and other buildings (3 projects), arrangement of water and sewerage systems (26 projects), bank-restorative activities (13 projects), reconstruction of torrent channels and other infrastructure. 

In total, in 2014 Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will spend more than 95 million lari in Kakheti region. In addition to that, district administration will receive 17,5 million lari from the Foundation to implement 85 infrastructural projects. More than 112 million lari will be spent on infrastructural projects in Kakheti.
