July 23, 2014

Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

Reorganization process in Kutaisi City Hall started with the reduction of service units. Their number was reduced from 18 to 10 units. Heads of service units are nominated and majority of them are old staff members.

“Those people were appointed to the positions, who were interim heads of service units before local elections. We decided to continue cooperation with the same people in the city hall,” said the recently elected mayor Shota Murgulia, who will have two deputies instead four. Nodar Mikiashvili and Kote Kavtaradze have already started implementation of their duties.

As for the personnel reduction process in the service units, which was already launched, it is not supported by the opposition members of the city council. Member of the Fraction United National Movements Amiran Dzotsenidze, who was vice mayor and former vice-regional governor in the past, clarified. “The ongoing process aims to clean city hall from people, who had some connection with the UNM and to prepare free space for new people invited by the new mayor.”

According to the spread information, the number of personnel in the City Hall must be reduced to 330 people; representatives of the City Hall state the process will be conducted in compliance with the Law on Self-Governance and service units will be staffed with professionals.
