Member of Gori municipal board from Free Democrats Khatuna Khatashvili speaks about intimidation from the district governor David Oniashvili. According to Khatuna Khatashvili, Oniashvili verbally insulted her and threatened with the prosecutor’s office.

The controversy between the board member and governor began in the live of Trialeti TV. The argument followed statement of Khatuna Khatashvili. She said the district government inserted the unfinished building on the list of completed work. She named the example of wrestling ground in Karaleti village; in 2014 the local budget had allocated 5 000 lari to fence the ground in the frame of the Village Aid Program.

Gori district governor denies oppression on the board member and Khatashvili’s accusations. He said 5 000 lari was allocated to buy fence for the ground and the work will renew in spring.

“First, she must study the document and then make a statement. Khatuna Khatashvili slandered the administration as if 5 000 lari was spent but nothing was done. I examined the ground in Karaleti village together with journalists and found out that fence materials were purchased with the money. So, the district administration implemented its obligation at 100%”, Gori district governor David Oniashvili said.

Head of district office of the Free Democrats and MP Tamaz Shioshvili responded to the confrontation. Shioshvili addressed to the political secretary of the Georgian Dream and requests to timely response to the fact in order not to turn the controversy into politically motivated intimidation.
