Employees of the Egyptian Company Fresh Face Unemployment

February 26, 2015

Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

Egyptian company Fresh sent 320 employees to paid holidays. However, they do not have information when they will return to working places.

“Company Fresh entered the Kutaisi free industrial zone since 2010 and has created about 2 000 people in it; currently they work only in one direction and only 35 people work on it. It is not excluded that tomorrow they will also be sent to holidays that mean their final unemployment. We call on the government, particularly Prime-Minister Irakli Garibashvili, to get interested in this problem,” MP from the National Movement Giorgi Tevdoradze said.

The employees, who are now on vacation, presume the leaders of the Egyptian company have problems of living in Georgia.

“At the moment we are on vacation. Tomorrow they might tell us that nobody needs us and the enterprise will close. I do not know what is happening. People say Egyptian citizens have problems of living in Georgia and they leave country. We will remain unemployed and will not manage to keep our families,” the Fresh employees said.
It was impossible to contact the representatives of the Egyptian Company Fresh.
