The Gori City Hall removed age limit from the article on social program which referred to the people with disabilities. Before amendments, people with disabilities aging from 18 to 30 received single 250 lari allowance from local budget. Gori City Hall petitioned to the city council after the issue was highlighted by media resources and requested to remove age limit for beneficiaries. The council members voted for the removal.
“It was necessary to abolish age limit. Deputy Mayor got interested in the issue, presented the amended article to the city council and we also voted for that,” city council member Davit Razmadze said.
The promise was kept but after the changes the people with disabilities will receive annual single allowance of 200 lari instead previous 250 lari. The council members connected the reduction of the allowance with the amendments to the budget.
Unlike Gori City Hall, the Gori district administration gives single 500 lari allowance to the people with disabilities (people with cerebral palsy, autism and Down syndrome).
