Pankisi Villages Damaged with Flood

Heavy rain damaged villages in Pankisi gorge. Locals said Alazani River flooded and destroyed plots. Population said if rainy weathers last, their houses will also get flooded.

Akhmeta district governor Beka Baidauri told humanrights.ge that group is working to eradicate problems caused by natural disaster.

“Alazani River was so flooded that it changed its bed. We sent techniques to the place to clean the area but we cannot rescue plots. Tractors work on the place to prevent river flow into the houses; they clean the river bed and reinforce dams,” Beka Baidauri said.

Population urges government for help and hopes the local authority will timely calculate the damage.
