Dismissal of the deputy chair of the assembly was one of the issues in the agenda of the Khashuri Municipality Assembly meeting on July 20. A member of the Free Democrats, Giorgi Tkhadiashvili was dismissed from the position of the deputy chair by 18 votes. 9 members of the assembly did not vote for Tskhadiashvili’s dismissal. Tskhadiashvili evaluates the dismissal as a political pressure and plans to appeal against the decision of the assembly.
“My dismissal from the position was due to political reasons, because a month and a half ago the chair of the assembly came to me and said that if I left the party “Free Democrats” and joined the coalition “Georgian Dream”, I would kept the position,”- said Giorgi Tskhadiashvili.
The chair of the Khasuri Municipality Assembly, Vaja Shubitidze answers the accusations of the deputy. According to him, Tskhadiashvili had an example of Kareli Assembly when the deputy chair moved from the Free Democrats to the coalition Georgian Dream he maintained the position.
According to the representative of the party Free Democrats Aleksi Petriashvili, another fact of political oppression was revealed in Khashuri.
In the regional organization of GYLA, they say that when the reason for the dismissal of an official is not stated, this fact raises questions.
“If they dismissed Giorgi Tskhadiashvili due to political reasons, then according to the law, this is a direct discrimination,”- said the chair of the regional organization of Gyla, Keti Bebiashvili.
Khashuri Municipality Assembly will vote for a new deputy chair on the next meeting.
