Members of the Gurjaani Municipal Board Blame the Governor in Inattention

February 22, 2016

Lela Khechoshvili, Kakheti

Implementation of the 2015 local budget was discussed at the session of the Gurjaani municipal board. The governor did not attend the session, for what the board members expressed discontent.

“Three weeks earlier we wrote to the district administration and invited Governor Gia Gergidze to the session about 2015 budget. We had concrete questions to him. At the same time, we had to plan the 2016 budget but the governor did not appear despite our urgent request,” Simon Kochorashvili, member of the fraction Free Democrats said.

According to Kochorashvili, they wanted the governor to speak about infrastructural issues, tenders, contracts and 2016 budget. However, the governor did not pay attention to their request, as the board member said.

“The governor said he could not appear before the board unprepared and asked for time to prepare for presentation. If we have some new questions meanwhile, that means he will need additional time to prepare?!” Simon Kochorashvili said.

Kochorashvili said the 2016 budget needs amendment. The board members Gia Shaoshvili and Davit Tchuniashvili also protested it. District governor Gia Gergidze said everybody positively evaluated implementation of the 2015 budget and he cannot understand the complaints of the opposition.

“I received a letter from the Fraction but they have already discussed the budget. So, if they are curious about other issues, they may address me with questions,” Gia Gergidze said.
