March 9, 2016

Eka Bregvadze, Kakheti

Natural gas explosion in Bodbe village, Signagi municipality killed 7-years-old child. Locals said the child was alone at home, when water from boiling tea-cattle put out fire on gas-cooker and the natural air was accumulated in the room. Locals say the explosion happened after the child turned on the light. Fire-brigades, representatives of the Oil Company SOCAR and local government were on the scene of tragedy. Doctors could not save the child.

Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told humanrights.ge that investigation into the fact started under Article 116 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, murder of negligence.

Signagi district police is investigating the accident. The relevant expertise was also appointed. The expertise will estimate real reasons of the child’s death.
