A house of Omar Kavtarashvili was burnt in Duisi village, Pankisi Gorge. Locals say the accident happened late at night but nobody was injured because family members were not in. The Kavtarashvilis went to work in Grozno several months ago and neighbors said unidentified people tried to burn the house on April 15 too but they managed to put out fire
timely.
Duisi village residents say the house was burnt in revenge though one part of local population does not confirm the information. The Kavtarashvili’s house was not supplied with electricity for several months already and it excluded all chances that the fire could be set by electricity wires.
Population of Pankisi Gorge requests timely investigation of the accident because they are afraid it may result into graver crime.
“We could not timely put out the second fire and everything burnt down; only walls stand now,” local Toma Kavtarashvili said.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation was started under Article 188 of the Criminal Code of Georgia that applies to damaging or destruction of object through negligence.
