Aleksandre Induashvili surrendered to the police

On October 4, Aleksandre Induashvili surrendered to the police for shooting two attendants of Irakli Okruashvili, the single mandate candidate in Gori.

“The MIA Shida Kartli Police Department Officers detained A.I. born in 1963, convicted in the past. A.I. is accused in the attempted intentional murder and illegal purchase/possession of the firearm. The investigation stated into the incident of October 2, 2016 when A.I. shot in the direction of the people gathered during the pre-election meeting with the single mandate candidate, Irakli Okruashvili, in the Railway Station Settlement in Gori. Two people were wounded and the attacker ran away. The criminal himself arrived at the police office in Shida Kartli, where he was detained after the investigative activities. The detainee admitted the crime. “The investigation goes on under the articles 19-109 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which imply attempted intentional murder in aggravated conditions and illegal purchase/possession of weapon”, - the MIA’s statement reads.
