The CEC decided to conduct the second round of the October 8 Parliamentary Elections in 50 majoritarian districts on October 30. In Shida Kartli, the second round will be held in Gori city, in Kaspi and Khashuri majoritarian districts besides Kareli majoritarian district. As for Kareli municipality, Giorgi Totladze, the single mandate candidate from the Georgian Dream, gained 52.29% (12331 votes) in the first round and he is already in the parliament.

In Gori majoritarian district Ioseb Makrakhidze from the Georgian Dream received 33.69% (8268 votes), Irakli Alasania from the Free Democrats - 19.28% (4756), however, after the Election Day Alasania decided to leave politics, the ruling party’s candidate has no competitor. According to the Election Code, Irakli Alasania will still be on the ballot papers.

The second round will be in Gori municipality, in 42nd majoritarian district, where Tengiz Khubuluri from the GD received 41.77% (10555 votes) and Badri Basishvili from the UNM received 24.88% (6286 votes).

“Although there were violations and falsifications observed in the first round, we will participate in the second round anyway. I believe people will come on October 30 and vote against the Georgian Dream”, - Badri Basishvili, the single mandate candidate from the UNM, said.

Temur Khubuluri from the Georgian Dream also calls on the population to be more active in the second round.

“I would like to thank to all my voters for their support. My dear people, we expect the second round. My motivation has increased, because we lack till the final victory just a bit. I am ready to re-start the fight for better future and welfare of my district together with you”, - Temur Khubuluri said.

Kaspi municipality is also preparing for the second round. Irakli Mezurnishvili from the Georgian Dream received 45.65% (9677 votes) and Nugzar Noniashvili from the UNM – 22.89% (4853 votes) in Kaspi majoritarian district #39.

“Georgian Dream engaged all governmental institutions in the elections in Kaspi, including – Security Service, when administrative resources were not enough, they engaged criminals too and despite it they could not overcome a baseline. The elections are fiasco for the Georgian Dream and they lost elections, regardless the fact that they took more votes than we did”, - Nugzar Noniashvili, the single mandate candidate from the UNM in Kaspi Majority District, said.

Misha Goginashvili, the member of the Georgian Dream, commented about the Parliamentary Elections in the region. He did not share the opinion of his opponents and said the elections were conducted in fair and competitive environment.

“We are preparing for the second round. The Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia will win the second round too. Whoever speaks about the misuse of administrative resources, they lie dishonestly and I can bring lots of examples, when other parties used administrative resources – like UNM and others. We build democratic Georgia and not party based country, which was Saakashvili’s dream. The population expressed trust to the Georgian Dream. Basishvili has zero chances to win”, - Misha Goginashvili, the member of the GD, said.

The second round will be held in Khasuri Municipality, in the majoritarian district #43. Simon Nozadze, from the Topadze Industrials - Our Homeland outstripped the single mandate candidate from the Georgian Dream with 10%. Simon Nozadze received 31.96% (7310 votes) and Valeri Gelashvili from the GD - 20.11% (4600 votes).
