Davit Jikia, the Rustavi Mayor, fired Irma Meskhi, the head of the legal entity of public law Rustavi Residential Building. Irma Meskhi, who also led one of the programs of the Georgian Dream during pre-election period, said the City Mayor fired her while she was on paid leave.

“I do not know why I was fired. You should better ask it the City Mayor. Nobody told me the reason. The decision is illegal and I will appeal it. Until now Mr. Davit never rebuked me for any activities. I do not know, what happened now. I called him on the phone and he did not reply”, - Irma Meskhi said.
Meskhi added she was not dismissed on political grounds, because the City Mayor is the head of the Georgian Dream’s Rustavi Organization.

The Rustavi mayor did not answer the phone calls of humanrights.ge. The PR Service of the City Hall replied: “Meskhi was not on paid leave when she was fired. She was fired based on the article 37 of the Labor Code and Article 93 of the Public Service Code. It was personnel change”.
The article 37 – n of the Labor Code reads: “a ground for termination of a labor agreement can be any other objective circumstance justifying termination of the labor agreement”. The article 93 of the Public Service Code has almost similar general approach: ”An employee can be dismissed by an employer or an employer institution, which has right to hire him/her.”

According to unofficial information, Irma Meskhi was fired because she had tried to discredit the City Mayor before other GD members and single mandate candidates.
