Family and Business-Partners of the Gurjaani district single mandate MP donated 290 000 GEL to the Georgian Dream

Signle mandate candidate of the Georgian Dream in Gurjaani municipality Davit Songulashvili won the 2016 Parliamentary Elections. He gained 78.54% of votes in the second round. He is member of the parliamentary committee on economics and economic policy and the fraction Georgian Dream. In October, 2016 the family and business partners of Davit Songulashvili donated 290 000 GEL to the Georgian Dream.

According to the official data published on the website of the State Audit Service, on October 4, LTD “Gamsakhurdia 5” (I/C 404882926) donated 120 000 GEL to the Georgian Dream that is maximum estimated amount of donation to the political party by the legal entity. It is noteworthy that Davit Songulashvili is 16% share-holder in this company; his mother Darejan Gugunishvili-Songulashvili and brother Ioseb Songulashvili hold 17-17% shares in it. Besides that, Ioseb Songulashvili is the president of the company.

On the same day, Davit Songulashvili’s brother Ioseb Songulashvili and 50% share-holder and director of the Ltd Gamsakhurdia 5 Nukri Lipartashvili donated total 120 000 GEL (60 000 GEL each) to the ruling party that was maximum estimated donation amount to the political party by physical person.

Before the second round of the elections, on October 24, Davit Songulashvili’s father – Bidzina Songulashvili donated 50 000 GEL to the Georgian Dream. The latter was state attorney of Kakheti region during Eduard Shevardnadze’s governance in 2000-2003. 

In total, the family and business partners of the MP Songulashvili donated 290 000 GEL to the Georgian Dream.
In 2004 Davit Songulashvili, at the age of 21, became assistant to the Minister of Economics of Georgia, from where he was soon moved to the position of the head of the Minister’s Office. Later, he occupied the position of the head of the procurement department in the Bank of Georgia. 

For the past few years, Davit Songulashvili was in the business. According to the data from the National Agency of Public Registry, he currently holds shares in 8 different companies – Ltd Edresi (59%), Ltd Beleza (100%), Ltd Dry Cleaning Georgia (16.67%), Ltd Harvest 2002 (34%). Ltd Gamsakhurdia 5 (16%), Ltd Progress (50%), Ltd Intergas and Ltd TAC Georgia. 

In the past, ICK reported that Davit Songulashvili was active supporter of the United National Movement before the Georgian Dream came in office – before the 2012 Parliamentary Elections he donated 7 000 GEL to the former ruling party.

News
