In the beginning of December, Company InterTrans increased transportation fee on Rustavi-Tbilisi route at 20 tetri. InterTrans is the only company in Rustavi which gained license to transport people from Rustavi to Tbilisi and back in the tender competition of the local authority.

Head of the InterTrans Irakli Chighvinadze clarified to local and central media that the fee was increased because of recent developments about the national currency, which caused increased prices on fuel and oil, spare items. Apart to that, as Chighvinadze said, the loan in foreign currency taken by the InterTrans also increased.

The local authority does not agree with the arguments of the company. Deputy mayor Nodar Sherozia said the InterTrans has breached the license conditions because they increased the price without agreeing the tariff with the City Hall.

“We received their letter with arguments based on which they planned to increase tariff but we have one-month term to consider and answer the letter. Nevertheless, they increased price without our notification and we do not agree with it. They must resume old price and then they should calculate the new tariff according to increased costs, which will be calculated by experts. One of these days we will meet the company representatives,” Nodar Sherozia said.

A single mandate MP from Rustavi Giorgi Begadze responded to the issue in the social network. He wrote that increased transportation fee will negatively impact the situation of students from Rustavi and is ready to participate in the solution of the problem within his competence.
