Kakheti regional prosecutor Vazha Panozashvili received salary supplement 23 times in addition to the salary throughout 2016. His total remuneration in 2016 was 101 240 GEL that is almost twice more than the prime-ministers annual salary. The salary of the regional prosecutor is significantly high than the salary of the President of Georgia, Chairperson of the Parliament, all ministers and MPs.

Vazha Panozishvili was appointed to the position of the Kakheti regional prosecutor on September 12, 2014. Before that he occupied different senior positions in the chief prosecutor’s office of Georgia and Tbilisi prosecutor’s office. On September 26, 2017 he was moved to the position of the deputy head of the investigative unit in the Ministry of Finances.

According to his last financial declaration, Vazha Panozishvili received annual salary of 101 240 GEL in 2016, including the salary supplement of 66 080 GEL that is almost three times more than the salary of the regional prosecutor.

It is noteworthy that the remuneration of the Kakheti regional prosecutor is more than of any other regional prosecutor’s salary in Georgia. For example, Kvemo Kartli regional prosecutor Levan Gegechkori received 99 260 GEL in 2016; prosecutor of the Adjara autonomous republic Levan Paksashvili – 98 439 GEL; prosecutor of the Western Georgia Avtandil Kochlamazashvili, Samtskhe-Javakheti prosecutor Malkhaz Kapanadze and Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional prosecutor Shota Tkeshelashvili received 98 240 GEL each in the same year.

Network of Information Centers reported that in 2015 too Vazha Panozishvili received more than other regional prosecutors – 100 765 GEL in total, that was much more than annual salaries of the regional governors, chairpersons of the district courts and other senior officials.

To compare, annual salary of the President of Georgia is 82 800 GEL; Chairperson of the Parliament receives 80 000 GEL per year. In 2016, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s annual salary was 51 370 GEL; Annual salaries of the government members – ministers are 75 000 GEL; annual salaries of MPs differ between 55 000 to 66 500 GEL depending on their positions in the parliament.
