With the December 7 judgment of the Tbilisi City Court, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is ordered to pay GEL 5 000 to J.G as a reimbursement for moral damage.
Human Rights Center defended the interests of the citizen injured during the dispersal of May 26, 2011 protest demonstration in front of the court.
On July 23, 2013 the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia found J.G victim because of the damage he received as a result of used physical force, special means and disproportionate power against demonstrators during the dispersal of the May 26, 2011 protest demonstration.
In his administrative claim to the Tbilisi City Court, the citizen requested 30 000 GEL from the MIA as a reimbursement of moral damage. The court partly satisfied his claim and imposed only 5 000 GEL reimbursement on the MIA. The victim plans to appeal the decision of the Tbilisi City Court at the Appeal Court because of the reduced reimbursement sum.
During the court hearings the applicant was stating that his health was significantly worsened as a result of the injuries he had received during the dispersal of the demonstration; he needed multiple medical examinations and treatments.
Human Rights Center believes that the medical notifications on J.G’s health problems, which were submitted to the Court together with the appeal, including the notification from the GCRT, created enough grounds for the Court to fully satisfy the claim of the applicant.
