Ana Isakadze, one of the University’s graduate students, wants to go on with her studies in Germany. However, she cannot take diploma at the Gori University and will have problems regarding her future studies abroad. In Germany they do not believe Isakadze that she had really graduated from the University in Georgia.
Because of the situation, the student could not take exams abroad. Her mother visits the university almost everyday to get the diploma but she is asked to come two days later at every visit.
Isakadze’s mother, Mariam Maniashvili said that they artificially create problems at the university because the students paid the diploma-fees as soon as they graduated from the high school last year. She doubts that the University Administration suspends the time to demand diplomas from the Ministry of Education on purpose because they had wasted the money paid by students.
Tsiuri Duruli, the head of the Quality Management Service Department at the Gori University, says that the accusations against them are fraudulent.
“Diplomas were delivered and we have started to give them out. We brought the diplomas of those students who had taken five-year-course a month ago. Two weeks ago we received the diplomas of students who studied for four years at our university. The list of those students, who demanded diplomas immediately, was sent to Tbilisi. But diplomas are initially being printed, and then they are numbered at another office; officials from Tbilisi told us that they would print them together in order to avoid misunderstanding. Thus we were delivered all diplomas together. Some time passed while we arranged them all here and afterwards we found out that Isakadze’s diploma was not printed. We are having it printed now,” said Duruli.
Duruli also said that the delay was caused by licensed print-shop “Logika” that has changed its office.
“Besides that the Ministry of Education altered its way of writing the qualification in a diploma. Thus, the diplomas were prepared later. At present everything is in order and the documents will be given out without any delay,” said Duruli.
