Zurab Kareli, teacher at the College within the Shida Kartli National University, stated that he is insulted by a subsidy program of the president. The voucher was given to him but today it is only a valueless sheet of paper.
Discontent teacher has petitioned to the Georgian President:
“Mr. President I found out several important facts during my visit in People’s Bank: As Gori is not considered as a town local people have not received vouchers on gas. As far as I know that the vouchers were distributed in the residential areas with the status of the city. I have also clarified that I am not considered a teacher and I have to return my voucher on electric energy. I am returning it to you. I have realized that you treat me like a bagger who you can give some coins and then take them back in order to remind me again that I am complete nonentity. The only thing that I failed to guess is why I am not a teacher?!”-Zurab Kareli submitted the letter to the president’s administration.
Zurab Kareli stated that he does not have any close relations with the former governor Mikheil Kareli.
On the contrary, he had joined “New Rights” and was far from the “United Opposition” established by Irakli Okruashvili and his team.
“I have taken such step because of my dignity and not for the sake of relations with Mikheil Kareli. I do not have any connections with the former governor we only have similar surnames. I would like to assure everybody that our dignity is above all for my colleagues and me,”-said Zurab Kareli.
Human Rights Centre got in touch with Aleksandre Kvirkvelia, the head of People’s Bank Gori Branch and asked for explanation.
Aleksandre Kvirkvelia: “We have received the resolution of President Mikheil Saakashvili under which the vouchers issued for private school teachers should be consider invalid. The list is too long and it deals with not only the teachers of that particular college, but with the teachers of other private schools too. These vouchers are only for the teachers of public schools.”
