Shida Kartli Culture Department Blames Journalists for Spreading Disinformation

April 11, 2007

Robert Maghlakelidze, the head of the Shida Kartli Culture Department blamed the journalists for having spread disinformation. It said that Gori Sergi Makalatia State Ethnographical Museum is in the poorest conditions and the employees have short salaries.

According to the local TV Company, “Much work should be done to assist the better functioning of the museum. The left side of the building should be completely reconstructed and after the works finish more and more visitors would arrive at the museum,” the news program on Trialeti TV Company announced so.

Robert Maghlakelidze: “Ethnographical Museum’s employees have nothing to complain about. They have high salaries and the repair-works are also being carried out. There are really good conditions in the museum and it would be better time-by-time. The repair works are being conducted gradually and some of the exposition halls have already been reconstructed.”

According to the Human Rights Center, it is a fact that the employees of the museum still have salaries of 35 lari. Besides that they have not taken their salaries for 1998-2000.  The left side of the building is pulled down.
