Ombudsman Demands on Punishing Trialeti Property Destroyers

May 30, 2007

Ombudsman Sozar Subari demands on punishing the officials having illegally destroyed TV-Radio company Trialeti property being in legal possession of Badri Nantashvili, the founder of the media organization.

The press release published by the information department of Public Defender’s office underlines that the dismantling process of the metal fence set up in the Trialeti TV-Radio company adjacent area is recorded on a video cassette, showing that the process was led by Revaz Gogiashvili head of the judicial department of the regional municipality of Gori.

The Ombudsman appealed to the Gori municipality with a recommendation to discuss the liabilities of those personalities having carried out the aforementioned activities and compensate the damage. Subari has forwarded the case to the prosecutor’s office for the relevant response.

On May 21 the Director General of the TV Company John Nanetashvili appealed to Subari with a statement. As a result of the study of the statement and the attached materials, pursuant to the press release, it turned out that since 2005, under the leasing contract, TV-Radio Company Trialeti owns the plot belonging to “Kartuli Filmi” stock company. The validity of a10-year contract expires on May 1, 2015.

On May 18 John Nanetashvili received a note demanding on dismantling the metal fence set up in the adjacent area of the Trialeti TV-Radio Company. The note, not including the ground for dismantling, was issued against the Order 475 of May 17, 2007 by the Gori Municipality.
