Discussion on “Sorry” Campaign

May 30, 2007

An Appeal to Abkhaz people-“Sorry”- is the name of the Campaign the Human Rights Center has initiated on March 14 2007. Yesterday, the center dedicated a discussion with the students of Journalistic Faculty at the Tbilisi State University to the event. The discussion was attended by students and representatives of the center.

The appeal caused controversial reaction from the audience. The students’ opinion divided into branches. One part of them considered that the Georgian Society can apology, though they also added that the Georgian government is not ready to take such steps.

In parallel to it, another part of students had radically different opinion on the appeal. They thought that Georgian people have nothing to apology for. They think that the campaign would not eradicate problem and Georgia will gain back the break-away territories only through a war.
