Lia Toklikishvili: “We Are Illegally Evicted from Journalists’ House”

August 19, 2007

Tbilisi.19.08.07.Medianews. “Execution Department within the Defense Ministry illegally evicts editorial offices from the Journalists’ House,” said Lia Toklikishvili, editor-in-chief for the newspaper “Akhali 7 Dge” (New 7 Days) in her conversation with Medianews.

Toklikishvili said that her newspaper as well as other editorial offices has leased their offices in the building. Their contacts are not cancelled and nobody had right to evict them from the building. “Execution department broke into the Journalists’ House illegally and tries to expel us. They have not provided any documents on the base of which they are evicting us from here,” said Toklikishvili.

Editorial offices of “Akhali 7 Dge”, magazine “Tabori”, newspaper “Sakartvelos Respublika” (Georgian Republic) and Publishing House “Samshoblo” (Motherland) that was evicted from its previous office several days ago, were located in the Journalists’ House.

Representatives of the Ministry of Justice said in their interview with Medianews that officials from the Execution Department entered the Journalists’ House legally. They are executing court decision.
