Imedi TV Journalists Are Not Detained

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that journalists from the Imedi TV station are not being detained.

Bidzina Baratashvili, One of the board members of the TV station, confirmed this information. Before that, reports had surfaced that riot police had detained, Giorgi Targamadze, anchor of the TV program “Droeba”.

Riot police stormed the Imedi TV station at approximately 8:00 PM, during their evening broadcast about the ongoing civil unrest. After the broadcast, the station was locked down.

Employees of the TV station had their mobile phones seized and were ordered to leave the Imedi offices.

TV station Rustavi 2 called upon the government to give an explanation as to why law enforcement raided the Imedi station.
