Company “Linx” Protests Decision of Tbilisi Mayor’s Office

November 13, 2007
Mtatsminda Park’s operator company “Linx” protests the decision of Tbilisi Mayor’s Office about discontinuing a 49-year leasing contract. This information was given by Irakli Rukhadze’s yesterday press release, who is the executive director of the company “Salford Georgia” owned by Badri Patarkatsishvili.

“The company persistently refuses that only “little” investments were made until today and the park’s building would not be finished soon”, - as it is stated in the press release. According to Rukhadze, “in spite of the fact that the leasing contract between the company and the capital’s government foresaw investments of only 5 million dollars, in fact the company has already invested 25 million dollars and was planning to invest additional funds in the near future”, - states the administration of “Linx”.

Rukhadze specifically mentions that Mtatsminda Park was closed on 7th November “when the masked military forces invaded the territory of the Park and put it under their control.” The administration of “Linx” states that “the forces ordered all the Park personnel to leave the Park and then the masked military forces entered the buildings”. According to Irakli Rukhadze, the company will protect its rights on the basis of the contract.

Reportedly, Tbilisi’s vice-mayor, Mamuka Akhvlediani, stated on 7th November that “Linx” “breached the contract’s conditions many times, they paid the leasing fee too late” and therefore the Tbilisi Mayor’s office took control of Mtatsminda Park. Akhvlediani also said that they will compensate the company “for the minimal investments they made until now for building Mtatsminda Park”.
