Nearly 40 Employees Were Fired from Gurjaani Culture Center

July 2, 2008

Today, on July 2 the Human Rights Center was informed that employees of the Gurjaani Culture Center were not allowed into the building of their office based on the order of Giorgi Getiashvili, the director of the Culture Center.

Actors, members of choirs and other personnel were informed that they were dismissed from their positions because of expired labor contracts.

The director of the Culture Center denied the spread information in his conversation with the representatives of the Human Rights Center. Giorgi Getiashvili stated he had received the order on firing the personnel from Kakhaber Labuchidze, Gurjaani District Governor.

Reportedly, personnel of various state-funding institutions are fired in Gurjaani district. More than one hundred teachers were dismissed from musical schools on July 1.
